Where is Ludwig set?

Ludwig is set in Cambridge, where John Taylor and the Cambridge police team work. Many scenes are filmed in the real city, while others use stand-ins in Hertfordshire, Windsor and London.

Where does Ludwig take place?

Ludwig takes place in Cambridge, where John Taylor lives and works with the Cambridge police team. Filming mixes the real city with stand-ins in Hertfordshire, Windsor and London.

The story’s geography gives the cases a common home, but a Cambridge address in the dialogue does not mean that the camera was in Cambridge. The table separates the place the characters visit from the real venue identified in the location guides. Follow each link for the source, the level of certainty and current visiting advice.

Filmed here ≠ set here

Cambridge is the story setting. Windsor’s theatre, Moor Park Mansion and Stockley Park supply important stand-ins. Story mode changes labels while keeping the real map geography.

Markers identify venues or areas, including Ham without a house pin. Check official access rules before travelling. Photographs show the places; the linked filming reports explain their connection to Ludwig.

Additional production reports and photography notes

Richmond and Rickmansworth reports

Richmond Council records Series 2 filming in Ham in October and November 2025, without identifying a property or scene. “Ham Yard” is a filming agency’s name for a private Richmond house, not the London hotel. Richmond Council’s production report and Fresh Locations’ private-house listing explain the distinction.

Reports also identify Moor Park and The Drive near Rickmansworth. TV Guide calls the contemporary house Joanne Kemper’s; British Comedy Guide gives it a Taylor-family role. The screen identity and precise property are unresolved, and this is not a visitor stop. TV Guide’s report and British Comedy Guide’s location reporting remain the sources to compare.

Opening-office report

The earlier atlas named the Royal College of Pathologists in London for the opening office sequence. That production report is unconfirmed. Robert McKillop interview.

Comparing a place with the screen

Modern views are useful when the place and viewpoint match. Camera direction, height, lens, season, foliage and temporary works can change a comparison. Public access and photography rules come first. Programme stills and modern photographs have separate rights; text can describe a screen view when the Casebook has no permission to reproduce it.

The original atlas index was checked on 19 September 2026. This combined guide was checked on 24 October 2026.
